Neva Masquerade

The Neva masquerade is an intelligent and curious breed that happily follows at the heels of its family while also being happy to "talk". Neva masquerade is a "masked" Siberian cat, that is, the face, ears, legs and tail have a darker color while the body color is generally light and the eyes are blue - unlike the traditional colors of a Siberian cat._cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

The fur is very dense - relatively short on the back and long around the neck, chest and hind legs. The overcoat is water-repellent and feels somewhat hard to the touch. The tail is medium long and thick with a rounded tail tip and covered all around with strong hairs. A neva masquerade requires relatively little fur care because it does not shed very much.

Size and appearance The Neva masquerade is stout and muscular with large, round paws, a long tail and a short, strong neck. The head is slightly longer than it is wide, softly rounded with a slightly rounded forehead and well-developed, high-set cheekbones. The nose is wide and medium long. The profile has a slight indentation but no stop – in profile, the upper line of the nose gives a slightly rounded impression. The slightly slanted blue eyes are large and slightly oval with a rounded shape at the bottom and are set wide apart. The ears are medium in size, slightly forward with an open base and round tips with tufts. Like most larger cat breeds, the Neva Masquerade develops relatively slowly and it can take several years before it has reached its full physique.

Approved as a breed... Neva masquerade was approved as a breed in FIFe in 2009, but already in 2008 the first one was registered within SVERAK - then as XLH. EMS breed code: NEM English name: Neva masquerade Sibling breed: Siberian cat

ALLERGIES The Neva Masquerade differs from many other breeds in that they are said to lack a protein, FEL D-1, which causes allergies in many people. There is nothing scientifically proven about this, but only practical experience among breeders and allergy sufferers that the Neva Masquerade is a hypoallergenic breed.
